Check out the pictures and highlights below of the 2023 Southern Nevada Devil Pups (SNDP) season.

2023 YLA/SNDP 10-week Physical Training Leadership Program

We celebrate another fantastic year of determined youth building STRENGTH and ENDURANCE for earning a spot to attend a 10-day encampment at Camp Pendleton in California. The season kicked-off on May 6th challenging students with an extremely rough physical fitness test to set a baseline of their physical capabilities. Students learned the essence of the motto Devil Pups Never Quit (DPNQ) as they supported each other to do their best!

A huge Thank You to the OUTSTANDING United States Marine Corps recruiting stations! Every weekend Marines volunteered to instruct students imparting INSPRIATION and MOTIVATION! Special thanks to Gunnery Sergeant LE Hinton, Staff Sergeant Bricen Hooker (soon to be promoted to Gunnery Sergeant), SSgt Santiago, SSgt Silva, and the many other Marines who donated their time to lead the Pups throughout this year! We couldn’t do it without you!

Check out the awesome Eagle Team, Leslie Ortega, De’Zerrion Alexander, Shane Jones, and Isaiah Perez leading their peers! Eagles earn their blue shirt after participating in YLA programs for several years. Eagles understand the challenges students face and know just when to offer words of advice and encouragement. Thank You, Eagles! Keep SOARING and MENTORING the students. Your example of leadership is INSPIRATIONAL!

YLA Eagles celebrate their acceptance as Camp Pendleton Encampment Eagles to provide support during the 10-day encampment. Lead Eagles Lead!

Emerging Leaders! Every week a student was selected, by their peers, as the Most Motivated Pup earning the privilege of taking home the guidon for the week. Congratulations Norman Bassi, Colton Welch, Aaron Ballard, Jacob Mariscal, Michelle Garcia Villalobos, Stephen Caballero, Dawson Wollin, and Julien Rodriquez!

This season, there are so many instrumental leaders to thank! YLA welcomes the newest Board Member Gerald Mayes, a Marine, who with YLA Founder Marie Tomao-Miklosko and Sam Miklosko provided inspirational character trait talks for developing teens into leaders. Thank you for dedicating your time to “Building America’s Youth…One Teenager at a Time!”

Thank you to the YLA Admin Team who keeps the enrollments organized, answers questions, and sets up and tears down the equipment for every event.

Thank you to all the red shirt volunteers and parents who donated their time to make this season ROCK! We’d like to acknowledge one volunteer, Maritza King (a graduate’s mom), who has been volunteering with us since 2009! Our parents and volunteers are amazing!

The YLA Board of Directors sincerely thank our Community Partners and Sponsors for their continued support! The donations YLA receives are truly transformational!
