Spotlight Success Story: Corporal Magnus Yuen
We are beyond proud to celebrate Corporal Magnus Yuen—a shining example of leadership, dedication, and service—who has been part of the Youth Leadership Authority family since 2017.
Magnus’s journey began when YLA sponsored him to attend Teen Leadership Breakthrough, setting the stage for his remarkable path through YLA’s Path to Leadership programs—each offered at no cost to students or their families. His accomplishments include:
- Completing the 10-week local Physical Training Program (SLS)
- Participating in YLA’s Community Service Program
- Attending the DPI 10-Day Encampment
- Serving for many years in BMEGS as both a leader and mentor
His commitment didn’t stop there. Magnus stepped up as a YLA Instructor for local programs and led the powerful Retreat Challenge this past May (2025) before heading to Officer Candidate School (OCS).
As we say at YLA… “They always come back.”
A Monumental Milestone
We proudly recognize Magnus’s outstanding graduation from OCS with the United States Marine Corps 🎓 OORAH! This incredible achievement is a major step toward his goal of becoming a Lieutenant upon completing his engineering degree at UNLV, where he is excelling in the program.
Magnus is bright, kind, caring, gritty, and determined—a fine Marine who will make an outstanding officer. He reflects the values of leadership, resilience, and service that YLA strives to instill in every student.
A Leader Who Gives Back
Magnus believes deeply in the personal connections fostered through YLA. He is committed to helping others, serving his country and family, and guiding the Starfish, Eagles, and Guards who follow in his footsteps.
From participant to instructor, leader, and mentor, Magnus embodies the spirit of grow, serve, and inspire. He supports his family, has a great sense of humor, and—yes—quite the appetite! (Our Board can’t wait to take you to dinner, Corporal!)
His success at OCS, pursuit of excellence at UNLV, and multiple certifications from Gene Haas Automation—a historical sponsor of both YLA and Magnus—showcase his skill, work ethic, and determination.
